Features

What makes a good image to 3D model?

Start with a clear photo of one object. Latheo uses the visible shape as its reference, then estimates depth and hidden surfaces. A product shot, isolated illustration, or object photo gives the AI a more useful starting point than a crowded scene.

One photo. A model you can inspect.

A photo to 3D model workflow begins with the object you already have in mind. Choose an image that shows its full outline and some depth. You can switch between photo and text input in the same workspace, then rotate the result before downloading it.

Upload a clear reference

Choose JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF, up to 50 MB. Use a sharp original with one main subject. Crop out captions, borders, and unrelated objects so the intended silhouette is easy to distinguish.

Show the whole object

A slightly angled photo can reveal more depth than a flat front view. Use even lighting and leave space around the edges. Avoid hands covering important parts, strong reflections, or transparent subjects when starting out.

Inspect every angle

Drag to rotate the model and zoom into the back, underside, handles, and openings. A 3D model from photo is an AI interpretation; surfaces hidden in your reference may differ from the real object.

Download your GLB

Export the completed asset as a GLB file for compatible 3D software and viewers. Check its scale, orientation, and geometry in your destination tool before adding it to a production scene or interactive experience.

How to use

How do you turn a photo into a 3D model?

The generator opens in Image to 3D mode. Upload your reference, generate a model, and review the result before exporting. The model shown before generation is an interactive example, not a conversion of your selected image.

  1. 01

    Upload your photo

Select a reference that shows one complete object against a simple background. If a narrow part or opening matters, choose an angle that reveals it rather than expecting the AI to recover unseen detail.

  2. 02

    Generate the model

Select Generate 3D model and keep the page open while Latheo processes the photo. Each generation uses 100 credits. The completed model replaces the example in the same browser viewer.

  3. 03

    Review and export

Rotate and zoom to compare the result with your photo, then choose Download GLB. If the shape needs another attempt, improve the reference image first. Keep a local copy of the downloaded model for your project.

Use cases

Where can you use a picture to 3D model?

Use image to 3D when a visible object is your starting point. GLB output can help you explore a product concept, arrange a scene, or discuss a design before investing in detailed manual modeling.

Product concepts

Turn a product photo into a dimensional starting point for a design review or merchandising experiment. Check proportions from several angles before deciding which details need further work in your modeling software.

Game and creative assets

Explore a prop or stylized object from an existing picture. Review the mesh and optimize it for your scene. The generated model does not guarantee animation-ready topology, measured dimensions, or a watertight surface for printing.

Photo or text input

Use your photo when an existing shape matters. Choose text to 3D model when you have an idea without a reference; Latheo creates an image from your description before generating the model. Both modes support browser inspection and GLB export.

How much does photo to 3D model cost?

Each model generation uses 100 credits. Start with your available guest or signup credits, then choose the same credit packs and subscription plans offered on the Latheo homepage when you need more generations.

FAQ

Photo to 3D model: common questions

Check the free allowance, reference requirements, and download format before you upload your photo.

Can I try image to 3D model free?

Guests receive 100 credits per month, subject to the shared guest allowance, and each generation uses 100 credits. New accounts receive 100 signup credits. You can try image to 3D model free while you have enough available credits; further generations require more credits.

Do I need multiple photos?

No. This workflow accepts one reference image per generation. Choose a view that shows the full object and useful depth. The AI estimates surfaces that are not visible, so one photo cannot guarantee an exact reconstruction.

Can I download the result as a GLB file?

Yes. Once generation succeeds, select Download GLB beneath the browser preview. The button downloads your generated model through the same export endpoint used on the homepage.
